Melt Interface Technologies and Murata Manufacturing Sign a Business Alliance Agreement~ Accelerating the Creation of New Input Interfaces for the AI Era ~
Melt Interface Technologies, Inc. (hereinafter “the Company”) has signed a a Business Alliance Agreement with Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Murata Manufacturing”) to create new input interfaces for the AI era.
Through this partnership, the Company will combine the expertise and product development capabilities it has cultivated in the input interface field with Murata Manufacturing’s proprietary technologies in sensing, communications, and other areas, together with its manufacturing capabilities, to accelerate the development of new solutions.
As the first step in this partnership, the Company will exhibit its hand-tracking glove “ContactGlove3 Pro”*1, which incorporates Murata Manufacturing’s technology, at Murata Manufacturing’s booth at “CEATEC 2026,” to be held at Makuhari Messe from October 13 to 16, 2026.
*1 Hand-tracking glove: A glove-type device that estimates the wearer’s finger position, posture, and movement, and captures this information as digital data.
Background
With the evolution of technology, the means by which people input information have diversified, from PC keyboards and mice to smartphone touch operations. The Company has worked on the design and development of interfaces that serve as a point of contact between people and technology, developing products such as hand-tracking gloves that accurately convert finger movements into data. In recent years, advances in AI have expanded the range of information—such as voice, finger movements, and tactile sensation—that can be captured and utilized as data. In particular, realizing physical AI*2 requires accurately capturing and digitizing real-world information such as human movements and skills for use in AI learning and control, and expectations are growing for the HCI*3 field, an area of strength for the Company. Recognizing this shift in the market environment, the Company has decided to collaborate with Murata Manufacturing, which possesses a wide range of device technologies and manufacturing capabilities, to realize higher-precision, higher-performance interfaces.

*3 HCI: Short for Human-Computer Interaction. A field of technology and research concerning the point of contact between humans and computers and the interfaces that connect them.

The Company has strength in designing interfaces that serve as a point of contact between people and technology, and develops products and solutions including the “ContactGlove3 series” of hand-tracking gloves, which use electromagnetic fields to estimate finger position and posture with high precision. Murata Manufacturing, meanwhile, possesses a wide range of device technologies, including sensors, communication devices, and compact electronic components, as well as manufacturing capabilities that support everything from miniaturization and higher performance to mass production and quality control. Through this partnership, the two companies will combine their respective strengths to accelerate the development and commercialization of new interfaces.
One initiative that leverages the strengths of both companies is their collaboration in the field of hand tracking. The “ContactGlove3 series” incorporates Murata Manufacturing’s proprietary compact, high-sensitivity 3-axis LF antenna, which contributes to improved product value through stable position and posture estimation as well as reduced power consumption and smaller size. This glove, which can convert finger movements into data with high precision, is expected to find applications in VR, as well as in AI training data and robot control input, supporting robot learning and teleoperation and the capture of skill data in manufacturing settings.

Future Outlook
In addition to hand-tracking technology, the two companies are advancing collaboration in multiple areas, including the development of the “mask voice clip” voice input interface, which utilizes Murata Manufacturing’s piezoelectric technology. Going forward, the companies will further strengthen their collaboration to create new input interfaces for the AI era and explore new business opportunities.
