ContactGlove3 series Wins the Excellence Award at CEATEC AWARD 2026~ A device that captures human finger movements with high precision and connects them to AI and robots, serving as the “data gateway” for Physical AI ~

Melt Interface Technologies Co., Ltd. (the “Company”) and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (“Murata”) are pleased to announce that the hand-tracking glove*1 (the Company’s “ContactGlove3 Series”), a device that captures human finger movements with high precision and connects them to AI and robots, has won the Excellence Award at CEATEC AWARD 2026, presented at CEATEC 2026.

This Company product, which adopts Murata’s technology, is the first initiative under the business partnership between the two companies announced on September 28, 2026.

The “ContactGlove3 Series” will be exhibited at Murata’s booth at CEATEC 2026, to be held at Makuhari Messe from October 13 to 16, 2026.

*1 Hand-tracking glove: A glove-type device that estimates the position, posture, and movement of the wearer’s fingers and captures them as digital data.

The comments from the CEATEC AWARD 2026 Judging Committee are as follows.

For Physical AI to support or replace human work, high-quality data for learning real-world tasks is essential. Fine finger movements in particular are difficult to collect stably over long periods: cameras suffer from occlusion, and IMUs accumulate error. “ContactGlove3 series,” from Murata and Melt Interface Technologies, captures the position and posture of all five fingers using an electromagnetic field (EMF) method and continuously turns real work into data. By linking this not merely to skeletal coordinates but to work context—what motion is being performed during which process step—the data becomes meaningful for AI. If skilled movements can be accumulated as high-quality data, applications will expand to robot learning, skills transfer, and fine manual tasks that have been difficult to automate. The product was recognized as a foundational technology that supports the social implementation of Physical AI, including humanoids, starting from the entry point of data.

About the “ContactGlove3 Series” (Hand-Tracking Glove)

“ContactGlove3 series” is a glove-type device that captures the dexterous movements of human fingers with high precision and acquires them as real-world data that can be used to train and operate AI and robots. Each fingertip of the glove is equipped with a compact, highly sensitive three-axis LF antenna of Murata’s original design, which uses magnetic fields to measure the position and posture of all five fingers with high accuracy. It is resistant to the effects of occlusion and lighting conditions and supports continuous use for more than eight hours without external cameras. It can be introduced without major changes to existing facilities or workflows, and is expected to be used in a wide range of applications in the era of Physical AI*2, including work-data collection on manufacturing floors, robot learning, teleoperation, and skills transfer.

*2 Physical AI: Technology and concepts in which AI perceives the real world and acts through robots and machines.

About the Excellence Award at CEATEC AWARD 2026

CEATEC AWARD 2026 honors projects, technologies, products, services, and the software, applications, components, and devices that support them, selected from entries submitted in advance, that are judged to contribute most to solving social issues and to making economic activity more efficient and higher in added value.

The Excellence Award recognizes projects that are judged to be outstanding overall from multiple perspectives—including innovativeness, social value, feasibility, marketability, and co-creation—and that are deemed to have high potential for the future development of industry and society and the creation of new value.

Future Outlook

In addition to hand-tracking technology, the Company and Murata are advancing collaboration in multiple areas, including the development of “mask voice clip,” a voice-input interface that makes use of Murata’s piezoelectric technology.

Encouraged by this award, the Company will build on its strength in designing and developing interfaces that connect people and technology, actively promote collaboration with external partners including Murata, and strive to create new value in the era of Physical AI.
